“It’s my pet compy, Nibbles,” Irene beamed. “Remember?”
“That was canon?! I mean, no, I don’t remember you having a pet dinosaur,” Serena corrected herself lest she rend the series’s continuity in two. “Princess, I know exotic pets are a given when it comes to the upper class, but has that thing been properly trained?”
“Trained?” Irene cocked her head, and Nibbles mimicked her gesture.
“If I recall correctly…I mean, if my understanding is correct, Compsognathus are predators and might be aggressive,” Serena remembered her studies (and not a prior traumatic event of dubious canonicity).
“Silly Serena, implying that an animal would only be aggressive because it’s a predator, willingly ignores the territorial nature of many herbivores,” Irene countered in an almost scholarly tone, “plus, Nibbles is the most precious creature in the world, he’d never hurt me.” She flipped back to normal and hugged her pet.
“Well, that was…something,” Serena didn’t have a reply or a proper reaction. Irene still managed to surprise her after all this time. “I’m just going to lie down for a second and pull myself back to reality.”
“Good luck with that,” Irene laughed.
Proper care and handling is the most important duty of a pet owner, exotic pets doubly so.
