Maid in Fantasy - Winter Wonderless

Serena and Orion stood out in the palace’s courtyard, shivering despite their winter clothes. Lady Ze had shanghaied them for another ridiculous training exercise to “test their physical capabilities to the limit of human endurance.” Which probably meant another ten-kilometer run, but this time through snow and ice.

“This is the worst,” Serena muttered through her shivers.

“I’m sure it’ll be f-fine,” Orion struggled to say despite the cold chill creeping up his spine.

“Don’t say that. It’ll only invite insanity,” Serena warned.

“It’s doubtful Lady Ze would have anything terrible in mind. There’s already six inches of snow on the ground. She couldn’t possibly expect us to do much,” Orion suggested.

“We’re talking about the same Lady Ze, right?” Serena looked at him like he had two heads. “Her idea of light exercise is 500 push-ups.”

“You worry too much,” Orion shook his head as Lady Ze finally arrived. The tall woman marched into the courtyard, her face covered by her helmet as usual. However, the rest of her body was entirely exposed and protected only by her athletic swimsuit.

“Good, you two have arrived on time, quick change into these,” she tossed the duo a pair of similar athletic swimwear. “We’re going ice fishing, but instead of rods, we’re using spears,” she slammed a pair of spears onto the snowy ground, “and instead of standing on the ice, we’ll be swimming under it.” Orion stood frozen in shock, but Serena, on the other hand…

“Orion, you were wrong. I wasn’t worrying enough,” Serena exclaimed. What followed was a day Serena would have carefully excised from her memory if she could remember anything other than waking up in the infirmary later clutching a giant salmon four times her size.

Winter is a time of finding warmth, coming together and enjoying those most merry of days. Just remember to find sometime to get proper exercise, less you balloon larger than the most unflattering depictions of St. Nick.

Until next time, Read, Comment and Enjoy.
