Eclectic Narratives - Live By The Deadline

>>>~~~~<<<

Deadlines are important, they are a mark of when work must be done.

A world without them sounds lovely.

A world without them is also a mess.

A hard deadline exists for a reason, not to torture you, not to be unfair, but to be a target.

Without a target, without the pressure, without the framing, you may find yourself slacking.

Without a deadline, you can go a hundred days saying, “I’ll get to it tomorrow.”

Without the pressure, you cannot turn the raw ideas into the gem of a product.

Perhaps you are more vigilant.

Perhaps you are your own regulator.

Perhaps your motivation to get work done outstrips the need for a deadline.

For the rest of us, a little guidance goes a long way.

For the rest of us, a little gentle push gets the ball rolling.

For the rest of us, a hard deadline forces us through the laze.

Deadlines are important, they are a mark of when work must be done.

And nothing feels greater than being done ahead of time.

And nothing feels worse than it approaching and knowing you won’t be ready.

I don't have any pseudo-wisdom for today, this whole poem is an elaborate apology for not having the next chapter of Maid in Fantasy finished by now. See you in two weeks when it's hopefully done.

Until next time, Read, Comment and Enjoy.
