Eclectic Narratives - Overload

>>>~~~~<<<

Too much is too much, whether it’s supposed to be good or bad.

Too much work burns you out.

Too much recreation leaves you bored and listless.

Too much food makes you bloated.

Too much indulgence leaves you feeling guilty.

It seemed like such a good idea. You built up your anticipation over hours or even days.

Then you take it all in and keep taking it in, even past the point of reason.

Just one more, just a little longer, just another and another…

You keep it up till you hit the point of overload, and it all comes crashing down.

All that’s left is your own conflicted emotions over taking it too far.

All that’s left is you wondering why you went so overboard in the first place.

All that’s left is you wondering which way is up and which way is down.

Maybe you went so far that you lost yourself there for a moment.

Maybe once it’s done, you have nothing but questions for yourself.

Maybe you have to spend hours or days sorting your emotions after the fact.

Too much is too much, don’t let yourself overload. It won’t be worth it in the end.

Too much of a good thing, too much of a bad thing, too much of anything, it's all the same difference.

Facetious Fantasies - Two Orcs

~~~~
            “I don’t know, Bork, this doesn’t look right,” the taller, bulkier orc admitted.
            “You think too much, Torc,” the lankier and leaner Bork scoffed. The two orcs had situated themselves at the edge of a swamp, a crude construction laid out before them.
            “But Mom said human doesn’t even taste good,” Torc reminded. “Orcs eating humans is just…what’s the word? Human prop-or-gunda?”
            “If Mom told you to jump off a bridge, would you do it?” Bork snorted.
            “N-no?” Torc scratched his head. “I still think your human trap doesn’t look right.”
            “So suddenly turtle-brained Torc is an expert on humans, huh?” Bork spat. “If you’re going be such a lily-livered dunce about this, then leave. I’ll keep all the human for myself.”
            “But, are you sure that’s what humans eat?” Torc asked.
            “Torc, Torc, how many times do I have to explain it,” Bork shook his head. “Trolls are bigger than Orcs, so they eat Orcs. Orcs are bigger than humans, so they eat humans. Humans are bigger than Gnomes, so they eat Gnomes. It’s the basic food chain.”
            “If you say so,” Torc still wasn’t convinced as he laid eyes on their captured “gnome.” Tork didn’t know the name for it, but he was sure this wasn’t a gnome, or at least the kind of gnome Bork thought it was. The plastic garden gnome sitting on the plate beneath the crude cage trap would certainly not be drawing in hungry humans anytime soon.
Eclectic Narratives - Take a Break
~~~~

At some point in time, we all need to stop and take a little break.

Amid a storm of work and responsibilities, we must find time to relax.

At the end of an unpleasant time, we should take some time for ourselves.

Not a regular break, not a simple weekend, but a genuine time for rest.

Take your vacation and do what you love.

Go on that trip you’ve been meaning to.

Lock in some time with your closest friends.

Head out and see that one movie that only plays in that one theater a hundred miles away.

Or maybe, just settle in at home, pour a nice glass of your drink of choice, and breathe.

Whether you must fill your time with a whole bunch of something.

Or lay back and enjoy a whole lot of nothing.

At some point in time, we all need to stop and take this little break.

Amid our work and responsibilities, we need this time to relax.

Once the unpleasant times come and go, we need some time for ourselves.

Not a regular break, not a simple weekend, but a genuine time for rest.

So, take that vacation and do what you love.

Break and rest times are important in keeping productive and in top form. To deny yourself such is will only lead to poorer performance.
