Down an old, suburban road in the
dead of night, a drunken man wandered. The barkeep finally booted him out the
door for the night, and now he was on a quest to find his car. His friend was
no longer at his side, "who needs him," he thought. As he wandered
further down the road, his foggy mind began to realize he was nowhere near his
car. Yet, his attention was drawn elsewhere. An open manhole, in the middle of
the street. He knew he should avoid it, but his curiosity got the better of
him.
He waddled over to the hole, the
cover nowhere in sight. He held himself steady as he peered into the hole. The
only lights to illuminate his vision were a streetlamp that buzzed in and out
of life and the full moon. Neither was enough to illuminate the gap in the
road. A black spot, devoid of discernible detail.
The drunken man looked, but not for
anything in particular. He stared into the abyss and to his surprise, the abyss
stared back. Two glints of blue appeared in the hole, two specks of lights
visible even to his clouded eyes. He moved in close to get a better look,
unaware of the twin pinchers that emerged to his sides. When he finally got
close enough to observe this mysterious being, the pinchers clamped down and
dragged him into the darkness.

A man walked out onto the old,
suburban road. He cursed his lighten wallet and the bartender who gave him a
hard time. He searched high and low for a drunken friend who wandered off into
the night. Sadly, all he found was a flat, empty road with no sign of his poor
friend.
