Jace knew Medy was a cruel and heartless girl. Despite being his cousin (well, second cousin), she never had any qualms about inflicting her unique brand of callousness upon him. Everything had come down to the wire, this was do or die, yet Medy seemed to savor the moment rather than dread it.
“Medy, please,” Jace begged.
“Nope,” the brunette chirped as her wicked grin widened.
“Please, Medy, I’m appealing to your human decency,” Jace exclaimed.
“Hahaha,” Medy laughed right in his face. “No can do, dear cousin.”
“You don’t have to do this,” Jace made one final plea.
“Nope, but I’ll enjoy it,” Medy cackled.
‘Well, this is it,’ Jace paled as it all came to an end.
“A-5,” Medy declared.
“You trashed my starship!” Jace cried.
“I win again,” Medy boasted as she added another tally to the scoreboard. Their fifth round of playing Starship (registered trademark of Chrona Inc.) ended the same way it always did.
“Best six out of eleven?” Jace grumbled.
“Sure, if you want the score to be six to zero instead of five to zero,” Medy stuck her tongue out.
“It’s all a fluke,” Jace proclaimed, “when I figure out how you’re doing it, you’ll be the one sent crying to their mom!”
“So, you actually did go crying to your mom last time? I was just joking about that,” Medy replied. It was a half-lie, she didn’t know it for a fact, but she knew Jace well enough to make a guess.
“Shut up, let’s go,” Jace quickly set up the game again.
“Sure, sure,” Medy shrugged. She didn’t blame Jace for getting so worked up, she was the only one to regularly beat him at any board game. Maybe one day he’d figure out why.
