It’s those small successes that feel the best sometimes.
Simple accomplishments, the lowest hurdles, the tiniest amount of progress.
As long as it is something you did, with physical evidence of your work.
Perhaps you fixed that loose doorknob or repaired your ailing oven.
Maybe you assembled a shelf for your room or discovered what was wrong with the dryer.
Work that, in hindsight, was simple and straightforward.
Time-consuming at the worst, replacing a single part at best.
But it doesn’t matter how simple it was or how basic the fix.
It was your work, your hands, and your actions.
You made this, and you’ll benefit from that tiny bit of work for months or years to come.
Not everything has to be a grand trial or a long journey.
In fact, those grand undertakings may take so long that you don’t even notice when they’re done.
But the small things, the little pings of instant gratification.
You see a problem, and you fix it.
Those have a certain feel that can’t be captured elsewhere.
In the end, it is nothing much.
But it’s good to have those little spikes of positive feelings every now and again.
It never hurts to have a little instant gratification.
Makes the moment-to-moment flow of life just that little bit more worth it.
