"This can't end
well," I stated.
"Where's your sense
of adventure?" Eric asked.
"About twenty miles
back, with your common sense," I replied.
"Don't be such a
worrywart," he assured, "I know what I'm doing, trust-" Before
he could finish his sentence the device in front of him burst into flames. He
quickly put it out with his jacket, but he no longer met my gaze. I looked back at the car, it
was only ten feet away on the dirt road. The temptation to leave gnawed at me,
but I knew better than to leave him alone.
"Okay this time it'll work," Eric pulled out a screwdriver,
"just a few minor adjustments and we're good to go."
"Sure," I took
a long step back and ducked behind a tree.
"Perfect,
now-" He began before the device emitted a burst of smoke right into his
face. "Never mind," Eric coughed.
"Can't you just
quit while you're ahead?" I asked.
"No," he
snapped, "I can get it working I promise."
"I'll get the first
aid kit then," I sighed, "and the fire extinguisher." I walked
back to the car while he continued to fiddle with the device, which only
shocked and burned him in response.

Very short story today do to a combination of factors. Let's just say the story that was meant to be uploaded today was really dumb that I had to scrap at the last minute, and that's just for starters. Thursday's story should be more substantial.Until then Read, Comment and Enjoy.
