Ecclectic Narratives #6 - Morning Haunting [#68]

~~~~
            The coffee cup shook violently and then rose from the table. The foam at the top morphed into a horrific visage with an evil smile. The possessed beverage spun and flew in all directions as though it demanded attention, yet never spilled a single drop. It flew around the kitchen, hissed at the cat and did a loop around the sink before it returned to the table. I picked up the cup by the handle and took a sip.
            "That ghost is getting desperate if he's haunting my coffee," I commented as I took another sip.
           "Does that happen every morning?" My friend asked while he hid behind the doorframe in the adjacent room.
            "No," I replied, "yesterday it was the sink. That was a fun hour to clean up after him."
            "How can you live like this?" My friend peeked out from behind the door.
            "It's not that bad when you get used to it," I answered as I finished my coffee, "yuck, ghostly aftertaste."
            "Sure," my friend began to slide towards the front door, "I'm leaving before he tries something on me."
            "Ok," I nodded, "Hey, could you check if the ghost took out the trash on your way out?"
            "What?" My friend turned back in surprise. Right on cue, the trashcan flipped open and the trash bag rose out, wrapped itself up and floated out the front door. My friend stood stock still as the event unfolded, unable to even blink at the sight before him. "W-what?"
            "He can't really pay rent, so this is how he earns his do," I explained.
            "Oh neat," my friend mumbled as he passed out.
            "You'd think he'd seen a ghost," I joked as I went to help my friend.
